I have spent my whole life searching, hoping to learn how to write so I could become a writer. What I had not realised is that one is born a writer, just like one is born a painter or a dancer. What is often missing is finding oneself the space for creation, understanding that art is a vital need, not an appendix, a leisure activity or a distraction. We are born an artist and we cannot escape that condition.
To create, we must simply accept this simple premise.
Without knowing it, my life changed radically when I decided to put writing at the centre of my life. Before, I was never in the right place. Now, I’m exactly where I should be. I adapt my paid work to my writing, not the other way around. I have entire days where I write, read, take notes, reflect. My life has become a movement towards writing.
Freedom is in this new space of mine.
Here I share with you fragments of this life as a writer.
