Ecology has always been part of my life. I can’t explain where this urge to protect the environment and social justice came from. The two have always been linked and have been with me since I was very young. Lost in the middle of Albufeira as a child, where there wasn’t a single bookshop, I had a paper subscription to the Greenpeace Newsletter, which arrived in the post. In England, I became aware of vegetarianism and gave up meat more than twenty years ago. That was a moment of consolidation of my ecological awareness. Once we start thinking about our food, we seek to understand how the entire food production and distribution system works, but also what our bodies need and so on. Small gestures are part of my daily life, but today they are no longer enough. We have gone too far in terms of environmental impact and our responses are insufficient. I hope this space will help to deconstruct myths and, above all, build bridges, as there is a lot of misunderstanding in this area.
